Achievements

It seems like an eternity since we last reported on some student success, so it was great to see Dave Marsh complete his first solo today. With the upcoming good weather, there should be a flurry of further successes to report over the next few days....

Today we saw our first PPL skills test pass of the year as Ted Jones gained his wings at the first attempt. Well done Ted!

The final student success of 2020 goes to Kris Cavill who has completed his Night Rating this evening to go with his IMC rating which he did just before Xmas. We're now going to take the rest of the year off!

PPL skills test pass this morning for YAC student Russell Till.

Another Night Rating completed. This time it was Richard Wong who completed the course. Although the days are now getting longer, there's still plenty of time to complete a Night Rating.

Big congratulations today to YAC student Dave Chadwick. Not only has he just completed his first solo, he's done it after only 9 hours of flight training. That's got to be a new record in our book!

Instrument Rating (Restricted) skills test pass this evening for Josh Jackson having mastered an Instrument Landing System approach down to minima.

Night rating completion last night for YAC student Heather Leung. What a busy month this is turning out to be!

PPL skills test pass today for YAC student Gary Newman who has just completed his PPL in the minimum 45 hours. Well done Gary!

Night Rating number two of the week completed this evening. This time it was Sara Wilson who has gained her twilight wings.

Making the most out of today's clear winter weather was YAC student Yasir Khan who has completed his first solo. Well done Yas!

Another Night Rating achieved at the weekend. This time it was Jon Hoare who completed the 5 hour course over the space of two evenings. Just a reminder that we are able to offer training towards the Night Rating 7 nights a week.

it's been a mix of sunshine and showers today. Thankfully the sun came through at the end of the day for James Haggarty to complete his first solo.

Another first solo to report. This time it is Bailey Travis who has gained his wings by piloting an aircraft on his own for the first time.

What a busy little week it has been for YAC student Jamie Jackson. First the night rating, immediately followed by the Instrument Rating (restricted). Hopefully we'll see him return in the spring to complete his Flight Instructor's Course.

Congratulations to Simon Burrows who has completed his night rating this evening having only started it yesterday.

First solo on Saturday for Dan Reader. Nice one!

First solo for Owen Dungworth. Not bad going considering it's only a few weeks after his 16th birthday!

PPL skills test passed and night rating achieved for YAC student Kyle Kilmore. The first two steps on his road to becoming a professional pilot.

Skills test pass today for YAC student Nathan Bailey who has gained his Private Pilot's Licence. Well done Nathan!

A second one of students successfully completed their Night Rating at the weekend. This time it was Jake Didsbury who gained his wings of darkness.

First solo today for Mostafa Metwally. We look forward to lots more happy landings to come!

The first night rating of the season has been completed tonight with Mik Kent completing the final part of the 5 hour course. We're sure there'll be plenty of others following him over the next few weeks.

Another skills test pass this afternoon. Today it was Rob Monk that gained his PPL wings.

First solo today for YAC student Nick Kean who successfully piloted one of our Cessna 150 aircraft around the circuit for a smooth landing.

First solo this morning for Russell Till. What makes this achievement extra impressive, is that Russell has achieved this great feat in under 10 hours of training. Well done!

Perfect way to finish off a very busy month of flying with a PPL skills test pass for Dominic Dodd.

Having only started the course 6 days ago, Dean Hollings passed his IR(R) skills test today. We wish him all the best as he progresses onto his CPL and CB-IR.

Another student has gained their IMC rating today. This time it was Alex Buxton who completed a successful skills test having completed the course in minimum hours.

First solo today for YAC student Max Derbyshire. Well done Max!

IMC skills test pass today for YAC student Ben Summers after demonstrating his ability on the ILS at Doncaster. Hopefully the training comes in useful for the Competency Based Instrument Rating.

With storm Francis moving through in the early hours, we've been graced with some perfect flying weather today of blue skies and light winds. University of Sheffield student Joshua Purdie made the most of it, completing his first solo this morning. Well done Joshua!

What a glorious summer's day it has been. Perfect conditions for YAC student James Woolveridge to captain one of our Cessna 150s around the circuit for the first time as he gained his solo wings.

Not wanting to sound like a stuck record, but yet another first solo this evening. We're starting to lose count as we've now had more this month than some of our competitors have in a year! Today it was the turn of Max Verdicchio to strut his stuff down the runway and...

Yet another first solo at YAC. Just days after his 16th birthday, Luke Whitworth has taken to the skies on his own today for the first time. Give it another 12 months and he'll be able to start driving lessons.....

Further student success this week. Today it was the turn of James Pulfrey to venture into the skies on his own for the first time as he completed his first solo.
