BIFM - Basic Instrument Flight Module

The Basic Instrument Flight Module is a requirement for pilots pursuing a Commercial Pilot Licence or
an Instrument Rating.

Course Objective

The course will provide pilots with foundational knowledge, instruments scanning techniques, instrument interpretation, and experience in instrument flying. This will serve as a foundation for students who are soon to undertake a Commercial Pilot Licence or Instrument Rating.

On completion of the course, students are issued with a BIFM course completion certificate which will reduce the hours of a subsequent CPL or IR, providing a significant cost saving for individuals persuing those qualifications.

Training Structure

The course consists of 10 hours of flight training. The training starts with basic manoeuvres with reference to instruments and eventually leads up to radio aid tracking and an introduction to RNAV / PBN enroute procedures.

What does it cost?

Based on completing the course in the minimum hours, the course cost would be at £2495 for our 2-seater aircraft, or £2845 for our 4-seater aircraft.
